Science Industry Partnership

History of SIATE

SIATE was formerly known as LSIS (Life Sciences & Industrial Sciences) Trailblazer group and was established in 2013 following the Richards Review of apprenticeships. LSIS was one of the initial 8 trailblazers.

The purpose of LSIS was to develop apprenticeship standards through a trailblazer group of at least 10 employers.

LSIS now SIATE pioneered many of the changes in apprenticeships, and supported businesses through the change from apprenticeship frameworks to standards. The group collaborated on best practice with colleagues not only inside of the industry, but also outside of the industry.

SIATE continues to be an inclusive group offering information, news and updates on all elements of technical education; retaining a keen focus on apprenticeship standards for the Science Industry as well as new and emerging qualifications.

Members of SIATE include employers, providers and professional bodies who come together quarterly to share practice, hold discussions and listen to keynote guest speakers discuss the latest updates and initiatives for technical education in England.
