The Science Industry Partnership (SIP) has set out the views of its employer members on the areas of skills and business policy its members believe will support a thriving science-based sector, including life sciences, biotechnology, chemicals and advanced materials. This includes a set of recommendations to Government for consideration.
SIP members have an ambition to significantly increase apprenticeship numbers and will continue to work to champion what is an exciting, alternative pathway into the sector. The apprenticeship route is already paying fantastic dividends in terms of both increasing diversity and in supporting social mobility. The SIP also welcomes the new Government’s commitment to establishing a National Skills Fund and in this regard, looks forward to working with Ministers and officials on progressing these recommendations in order to ensure this strategic sector of the economy remains productive and competitive.
