Back in July 2016 the Government accepted the independent Sainsbury Panel’s recommendations to reform technical education, and it set out its vision in the Post 16 Skills Plan.
At the heart of this Plan was the ambition to put in place a high quality technical option, streamline vocational qualifications and importantly involve employers in qualification design. This saw the development of a new Technical level qualification or ‘T Levels’, technical study programmes. These sit alongside apprenticeships and offer a vocational route at the age of 16.
T Levels have been developed in collaboration with employers, so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares students for work.
